After rocking North London crowds over the past 18 months, we’re heading east on the 19th of this month for a stint at one of Shoreditch’s most happening venues, The Legion in Old Street. We’re in it for the long haul, starting an hour earlier at 8PM and finishing at about 3AM. Now would be a good time to make up a disclaimer about the deteriorating quality of the mixing as we approach the wee smalls. We’re also doing the Grab a Gift with Our Girls thingy again; check our facebook and myspace links to the left right (it’s been a long day on public transport) to find out how to get involved.
Onwards.
The first part of that headline isn’t a cheap shot to try and boost our google ranking, or more likely, get our families threatened. No doubt you’ve heard the frightening results of last weeks European elections (to all of those who sat at home and didn’t vote out of protest: BITE ME). Jon McClure – him of Reverend and the Makers and one of the nicest, switched-on and eloquent guys I’ve ever had the pleasure of sharing oxygen with – has posted an anti-BNP song up on his Twitter account. Jon’s long been a vocal supporter of Love Music Hate Racism, and decrier of the BNP – which prompted some nasty threats against his family earlier this year. So I think it’s safe to say it’s not a publicity stunt, at least not one designed to sell records or boost his personal profile. As today’s NME put it, “Every knuckle-chewing apathetic sheep in this country should be forced to sit down and have a chat with Jon McClure once a month.” Indeed.
Here’s a link to the MP3. Enjoy.
